| What? Once (2006) [link] A busker and an immigrant meet in the streets of Dublin and share a passion for music; while struggling with their own issues. Who? John Carney writes and directs what he calls a "modern musical". Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova star in the movie. Why? It's very hard to describe the plot of this film, and yet the title is awfully appropriate. Filmed in HD video, the independent look of the film fits perfectly with the scenarios and the characters. Simple and inspiring, this movie approaches the musical genre and musicians in a way that is truly original and well-achieved. I'd like to know if you've seen this movie and whether or not you liked it. If you haven't seen it, are you planning on checking it out now?  |
